Defiance Not Compliance is a local Ottawa zine aimed at bringing an
anti-capitalist and anti-authoritarian analysis to local events and struggles.
Every issue of the zine has a theme. Defiance Not Compliance is published by
Anti-capitalist Community Action (ACA).
The theme for the new issue is work in celebration of May Day. We welcome any
article or original artwork or graphic related to our theme. Some suggestions
of articles we'd like to print include your experiences:
- as a person who is 'working poor'
- on EI or welfare/workfare
- with harassment (sexist, racist, homophobic, classist, etc.) at work
- trying to unionize your workplace
- as a woman or person of colour or immigrant or First Nations person in the
labour movement
- dealing with an asshole boss
- running scams in the workplace
- swimming in student debt
- trying to make ends meet while juggling 2, 3, or 4 jobs
- working full time and going to school
- avoiding work altogether

The deadline for submissions is April 24. The suggested maximum length is 750
words. Submit articles electronically to aca@mutualaid.org or by mail to 2-533
Gilmour Street, Ottawa ON K1R 5L3. Material will be selected based upon
concordance with ACA's principles and basis of unity, diversity of voices, and
overall quality of submissions. Offers of help with editing, layout and design,
production and distribution are also welcome and needed.

For those interested in the editorial and production side of things, the
editorial/production group will the week following the submission deadline
(exact date and location TBA). All those interested in helping with editing,
layout, photocopying, etc. are welcome to come to that meeting.
