The A-Space, established in 1991 is an anarchist community space located
at 4722 Baltimore Avenue in West Philadelphia. It is operated by an all
volunteer anarchist collective who share chores, rotate responsibilities,
and make decisions by consensus. The A-Space is home to Philadelphia
groups such as Books Through Bars; Class Action!, a part of NEFAC (North
Eastern Federation of Anarcho-Communists; Allies Working for
Anti-Racist Action (AWARE) and the Philadelphia Anti-War Forum.
It is also used for lectures, meetings, performances, art showings,
movies & videos, benefit dinner, cultural events, educational
events, and other events that bring people together.

The building is part the Life Center Association. The Life Center
Association (LCA) is a land trust that owns several houses in West
Philadelphia. Instead of paying rent to a landlord each month, the
people living in these buildings pay money toward a common pool
that's available for the upkeep of the houses. A representative from
each building makes up the board, which meets once per month to
discuss any needed repairs.

The A-Space Collective meets on the third Sunday of each month
at the A-Space from 11AM-1PM, to go over the calendar for the
following months, and to make decisions about the space. Folks
with questions, ideas for events, or an interest in showing their art
or joining the collective are welcome to drop in at these meetings.
The A-space has voicemail, an email address, an event
announcement listserv, a web page and a monthly calendar to keep
people informed of upcoming events. People interested using the
A-Space can call 215-727-0882 or email
A-Space@defenestrator.org for more information and to find out
available times.
