The 2005 Anarchist Bookfair is offering the public three days of
hard-to-find literature and alternative media (there will be book and
pamphlet vendors from across Canada), how-to workshops, and the
opportunity to meet others interested in political theory and social
justice. Admission is free. March 25, 26 and 27th at Queen Alexandra Hall
(10425 University Ave, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada), local labor, public
interest, environmental, and nonprofit groups will engage in a progressive
exchange of ideas, techniques and practical knowledge.

Childcare will be provided for kids 18 months and over.

Bookfair hours are Friday March 25th 6-10pm, Saturday March 26th
10am-10pm, Sunday 10am-5pm.

Friday’s featured presenter will be Boiling Frog, with the Edmonton
premiere of 'Mardi Gras: Made in China', a thought provoking, independent
one hour film by Calley Media (see calleymedia.org for more information).
This film, featured at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, examines the links
between Mardi Gras revellers in New Orleans and ill-treated workers in
Fuzhou, China. This film will be presented at 6pm, and will run for one
hour.

On Saturday at 8pm, our featured speaker will be Allan Antliff, Canada
Research Chair at the University of Victoria and editor of 'Only a
Beginning: An Anarchist Anthology.' He will present a twenty minute
lecture entitled 'Open Road: Anarchy in Vancouver' to be followed by a 40
minute question and answer and book signing. A half-hour film will
follow, entitled "Useless: Subhuman Gerry Hannah and His Mom Reflect on
Punk, Prison, Sabotage and Freedom."

Other presenters will give workshops and talks throughout the bookfair.
For example noted workers' activist and intellectual, freelance writer
Eugene Plawiuk (see http://plawiuk.blogspot.com) will present a talk
entitled 'The Gnosis of Anarchy, The Spirit of Revolt and the
Revolutionary Spirit: Witches, Pagans, heretics, and Luciferian Rebels.'
For those interested in anarchism and families, the Babybloc Collective,
including Laurel Dykstra and Bruce Triggs, will be presenting 'Babybloc:
Activism and Families.' These are only two of several workshops covering
a variety of topics who will present at the Bookfair.

This event is sponsored in part by the Alberta Public Interest Research
Group.
