The Los Angeles Collective Network meets Sundays at 5pm. Contact us at:
lacollectivenet@yahoo.com <mailto:lacollectivenet@yahoo.com>
We will be meeting for the last time at the Velocity Cafe 2127 Lincoln
Blvd in Santa Monica (3 blocks south of Pico) and we will discuss
meeting somewhere more central in the region depending of availability
of space. People have been contacting us with suggestions and we will
discuss them on Sunday as part of the collective decision making process.
This would be our 4th meeting and we hope in a couple of weeks finalize
our mission statement, and carry out some of the plans or be in the process
of carry out collective plans, while developing more with other organizations.

These are some of the initial ideas that we have to build the
anti-authoritarian and anti-capitalist / direct domocratic and direct
action network in Los Angeles. As we continue to meet we want to
develop more ideas collectively or build on the ones we have already.
While many organizations have come to our meetings, the network is not
just for organizations but for individuals as well.

Here are some of our plans:

Newsletter - We plan to print a regional decentralized newsletter (no
editor in chief) where we can print articles, essays, commentary, art,
poetry to give voice and vision to what we do, create our own media, and
challenge the corporate state owned media's deception, and overall
update people with not only what is going on in the region but analysis
and exposure based on the principles of the network. At this point
we're accepting people's essays or articles, and we will discuss them at
our next meeting. (Also, we'll probably work on a website which we
haven't discussed yet for the newsletter and the network).

March 10 - We will be supporting the Global Women's Strike in Los Angeles

March 19th- Anti-War Action
The LACN is helping build up and supporting the action in Pasadena,
initiated by the Pasadena Anarchist Collective
http://www.pasadenaanarchy.tk/. We're doing this because the collective
is taking initiative to organize an action in their community, while
developing tactics of direct action, encouraging people to become
organizers themselves and not just attend rallies, and challenging not
only the war but the power structure as well. While it is up to people
to choose how they want to demonstrate, in mass rallies organized by
ANSWER, or challenge themselves or others to take part in taking on the
problem directly in your school, your community or workplace, some
member of the LACN will be at the Pasadena action and some probably at
the Answer rally.

April Events
-Student and Activist Anti-Capitalist/Imperialist/Fascist Regional
Conference at the University of Los Angelse California (the LACN is one
of the groups the is planning the conference)
-Freedom Uprising Festival (All day outdoor festival with different
types of music, art, poetry, tabling, distros, at Santa Monica College's
football field to build up consciousness and a culture of resistance)

May Day
-Plan for regional Direct Action on May 1st International Workers Day
-Concert at Night
-Plan for Week of Action Begining Monday May 2nd on campuses, from high
schools to colleges, communities, and work places with walk outs,
solidarity actions, and creative ways to resist the attacks on students
(tuition increase, demanding co-operative run campuses from student aid
to cafeteria, corporations on campuses, recruiters on campuses), attacks
on immigrant students and workers, police brutality in the communities,
capitalism as the root cause of the problem.

Draft Mission Statement
The Los Angeles Collective Society Network
We believe that by union and solidarity, we can achieve a
fundamental change.

This is why students, workers, and activists are coming together to
fight against capitalism which is the cause of all the misery here
and around the world affecting humanity.

One of the important things for us to achieve a better society is to
organize ourselves, and take direct action.

In order for action and organization to be effective we need to have
autonomy, union, direct democracy, a collective vision, and co-operation
amongst ourselves. We're an anti-authoritarian network opposed to the
vanguard structure in the revolutionary movement.

If you think you can have a better life than the one you're offered
you can join the movement.
