The first session ("Money is a curse on us" Diego - Anarchists in the Spanish
Civil War) of the Film Festival & Debate on "Anarchism and the social struggle"
at the Auditório da Biblioteca-Museu da República e Resistência, was well
attended. The session and debate featured the comrade Irene Quintal (80 years
old), widow of the comrade Francisco Quintal, one of the founders of UAP/FAI.
She movingly recounted how in her youth, her family of militant
anarcho-syndicalists welcomed fugitives from the repression, some coming from
Spain. She also spoke about how some members of her family served prison
sentences and were victims of police persecution (her father, mother, sister
and others). Her family, which at the time of the Spanish Revolution, lived in
the Torrão (a district of Setúbal) and was constantly harassed.

The debate then involved all those present and was very lively, with the active
participation and interest of many young people. We hope that the next sessions
will see the same level of interest and participation.

Please note that there has been an alteration to the sessions on 14th and 21st
January: the documentary "Durruti" will be shown on 21st January, while the
film "Patagónia Rebelde" will be shown on 14th January (see programme below).
