When I was a kid the word "radical" meant cool. For years we used the word
"rad" or "radical" for everything from fast sledding hills to sweet bike jumps.
But after I got older I found that some people grossly misappropriate this
amazing adjective and apply it to outdated, boring politics. Man, was I
stunned to hear someone call Karl Marx "radical". I mean, come on! If you
can't stay awake reading something, I'm sorry, it's just not cool.
Maybe, MAYbe last millenium it was considered cool to write boring books, but this is 2004!
I test the usage of the adjective "radical" by imagining the teenage mutant
ninja turtles. See, they greatly expanded my vocabulary during my formative
years with words like "tubular," bodacious," and, of course, "kowabunga." So if
I can imagine Michelangelo or Rafael being into something, then it probably is
truly radical. (Leonardo was always a bit authoritarian and Donetello was a tad
too nerdy.) Would Mikey and Raf be down with black blockin and street fightin?
You bet they would. Now think, would they be into Stalin, Mao, or weekly
meetings? Yeah right! Total bummer dudes. Oh and just to show how
non-sectarian we at Daybreak are (ed. note- Ha!) imagine a ninja turtle uttering
the word "paleo-diet." Okay okay, maybe Donetello would but seriously...

Anarchy rules because we mix politics with radness. We have a wicked good time
taking our sweet time putting out newspapers. We love F. S.-ing some U and
partying worker co-op style. Anarchism without the anarchy is just communism,
and what sort of red blooded American is into communism?

Anarchy is the future

brothers and sisters. Can you dig it?

===============================
* Daybreak is an anarchist collective in the Twin Cities.
Basic outreach: a webpage, a distro, and a newspaper, as
well as activism.
