GABRIEL ALEJANDRO ROSER, is a working-class militant responsible for a
vegetable garden and community food hall in operation in Ringuelet, La Plata, a
district where he lives and works. He is also involved in security for the MUP.
Gabriel is 26 years old and has been imprisoned since 29th April 2004,
currently in Unit 35 of Magdalena Prison. Gabriel is a political prisoner who
is falsely accused of armed robbery. The case against him has been crudely set
up by the police of Comisaria 6 in Tolosa, La Plata - an act that has been
scandalously approved by the Public Prosecutor, Martini, and Judge De Aspro.
before becoming involved in this affair, Gabriel had no criminal record.
Nevertheless, today this prisoner is being held in remand (for "preventative"
reasons) before being tried, with no date having yet been set for his trial;
and this is for something which was committed by three other people, one of
whom a son of a prominent member of the Partido Justicialista. It is important
to clarify that nothing of what was stolen nor the weapon that the police were
looking for have ever been found. There is no doubt that Gabriel is the victim
of a set-up, and is being punished for his political militancy. His is one of
the first cases perhaps where one of the most common police methods (set-ups)
is being applied against the social movements.
