While direct rule ministers claim the water tax will help raise funds
they have admitted that the water tax will land our schools and hospitals
with over an extra £1 million drain on resources.
Ministers want to charge around £1.4m for sewerage on top of the water bills
that schools and hospitals already pay. And while setting out its plans to
rob our children, the sick and infirm, our teachers, nurses and other health
care workers the government remained two-faced enough to "insist" that money
freed up for health and education by water charges will "far outweigh" the
new bills for schools and hospitals.
Caught out in another exercise in giving with one hand and taking away
with the other it is clear that this will be an unwelcome extra burden
for cash strapped schools.
