Anarchism is often talked about in these days of rampant globalisation,
but little understood. PROJECTILE AIMS TO CHANGE THIS
The Projectile Collective are staging a major event in central Newcastle from
Friday 11th to Sunday 13th February 2005 showing films on anarchism, or by anarchists.
We are showing a selection of the best of the wide selection available,
including documentaries and features, full-length films and shorts
covering anarchist history, action, and art.
The films will include 'Aurora De Esperanza' ("Dawn of Hope"), one of
only six films ever made by the anarchist CNT film collective in Spain
at the time of the 1936 revolution. It has never before seen in this
country. "Can Dialectics Break Bricks?" an amusing and
intelligentsituationist take on a kung fu film and the world premiere of
"Ten Days That Shook the World", a film of the 1994 anarchist gathering
in London that's so new that even we haven't seen it yet!

But we won't just be watching films. Projectile has also invited
speakers from the anarchist and libertarian left traditions and those
already confirmed include art terrorist, Stewart Home <snip>
Environmental activist Alex Plows and speakers from the
Anarchist Federation, Class War and the Solidarity Federation are also
expected. We are also inviting bookstalls, both local and national
groups as well as artists to get involved.
