(en) Britain, Class War G8 July 2005 Information

Date Wed, 03 Aug 2005 09:50:32 +0300

Class War has not been invited to send a representative to the
G8 group of industrialised nations, who meet in Scotland
between 6-8 July. Nor do we think much to the sanctimonious
whining of the "Make Poverty History" campaign that is
opposing the summit. How hilarious is it that an anti-poverty
campaign should be headed (in part) by the church, one of the
richest multi-nationals the world has ever seen! The rings on
the pope's finger, and the jewels in the Arcbishop of
Canterbury's treasure chest, could easily feed an African
village for generations.

Our task is to make capitalism history, make politicians
history, and make the rich history. And that takes more than
wearing a white wristband, giving a tenner to Live Aid, or
asking George Bush to be nicer to poor people. Until we end
the rule of Bush, Blair, Berlusconi, Putin and the like, any
reforms are going to be little more than elastoplast on a stab
wound. Capitalism cannot be made into a fair, nice system that
respects all. If it could, surely someone would have done so by

By all means oppose the gathering of the G8 in Gleneagles.
But lets oppose it for the right reasons, and remember that just
as opposition to capitalism did not begin on 6th July 2005, it
will not end on 8th July 2005 either.

This page will contain information from a variety of sources in
the run up to, and after the G8 summit:

All information will be in the spirit of the sentiments
outlined above - if you want liberal piety, get yourself
to church.

This page is Class War!

One of our members at the anti-G8 summit protests has been
writing a blog which can be found here:
