Under the Pavement: First Ever Green-and-Black Urban Gathering
Call to Converge and Resist All Domination of Life: Philadelphia, June 17-21
This June in Philadelphia, thousands of wealthy capitalists and biological
profiteers representing the Biotechnology Industry Organization will convene
in Philly to celebrate and promote their dangerous manipulation of life's very
building blocks for private gain. Missing from their PR agenda will be the
destructive, racist, and ecologically catastrophic consequences of playing
God with the global gene pool. In response, thousands of concerned activists
and citizens will gather to decry this ruthless commodification of Earth's
biodiversity and the proliferation of genetically-modified organisms (GMOs).

Working as part of this mobilization, we the Under the Pavement
Collective intend to facilitate the presence of a strong radical
caucus with the perspective to critique biotechnology in the context
of our resistance to all forms of domination. As such, our enemies are
not just GMOs but global capitalism, neo-colonialism, patriarchy, the
industrial ethos, & anthropocentric western science itself, which aim
to reduce all people and nature to orders of coercion and control.
We mean to not only point and shout in academic terms, but to
demonstrate workable alternatives to the systems we oppose.
To this end, we are calling for anti-authoritarian, eco-positive radicals and
allies to gather during the anti-biotech mobilization and share our vision of
struggle for liberation and harmony among all living communities. While
we recognize wilderness defense, sustainable communities and other "off
the grid" approaches as valid and worthy of support, we wish to focus this
gathering on enacting a radical
ecological praxis in the belly of the beast, the industrial, urban areas
where over half the world's people live.
We will be organizing several days of skillshares, actions and cultural
events on themes likely to include gardening, squatting/sustainable urban
living, resistance to car culture, physical and mental health, anti-oppression
community dynamics, postconsumer resource reclamation & more. We are
also actively so-li-ci-ting ideas for workshops & events.
Come to Philly this June to oppose biotech and sow the seeds of
widespread resistance to industrial capitalism. We can and will destroy this
machine from within. Let's get busy!

Anti-Capitalist Gathering in NJ
March 26, 2005
North jersey is coming alive with ideas, en-
ergy, and action aimed at creating spaces
where freedom, equality, truth, dignity, and a
sense of community reign. The past 2 months
have spawned at least 5 emerging anti-capi-
talist anti-authoritarian groups. Right now,
if we come together to share ideas, resources
and organizing techniques; we could walk
away with more fortified groups, projects, and
collectives, and possibly get some new ones
off the ground.
The North Jersey Anti-Authoritarian Anti-
Capitalist Gathering has come together to
achieve these multiple goals. The individuals
involved in organizing the gathering repre-
sent a variety of activist organizations. They
include members of the following organiza-
tions: Anti-Racist Action of North Jersey, Ber-
gen Action Network, Anarchist Black Cross of
New Jersey, Bergen County Bike Collective,
Critical Resistance, Ever Reviled Records, and
One Peoples Project.
The Gathering will be held on Saturday
March 26th 2005 from 9AM - 7PM. There will
be a pre-gathering/meet and greet at Grounds
in Jersey City on Friday night (March 25th).
The Gathering will be held at the First Uni-
tarian Universalist Church of Essex County,
which is located at 35/47 Cleveland Street in
Orange, NJ.
The day will more or less be broken up into
several blocks of time. One block will be set
aside for North Jersey groups and projects to
report back on their progress thus far, a block
for lunch, and a block for speakers from vari-
ous groups outside of North Jersey to present.
A final block of time would be used to break
out into groups so that unaffiliated activists
can plug into existing groups, or start forming
new groups. Space will be reserved for tables
for local groups to display their literature.
There will be a sliding scale fee ($3-10) how-
ever, no one will be turned away. Food and
Child Care will be provided (please call ahead
if child care is needed)
