On the 6th of April, a court in Poznan has aquitted the anarchist
Maciej Hojak accused of leading an illegal gathering (picket against
the occupation of Iraq, which took place on march 20th 2004 in Poznan).
Maciej Hojak took charge of the defence himself. In his speech he demanded to be
aquitted and that repressions against inconvenient ideas be stopped. He argued that
he couldn't be the leader of gathering, because antiwar movements have a tradition of
being organized without leaders and structures, but rather by horizontal networks. He
said that he identifies with that type of organization, therefore he couldn't have been
a leader, because this would be against his convictions. If the court finds him guilty,
then all the people who were present that day on the square should be considered guilty too.
The court decided that nothing in the proceedings indicated any guilt
by the accused and dropped the case.
