On September 21st, 2004, the political grouping which is Autonomy &
Solidarity will officially be one year old. What follows is a proposal
to have a one day weekend meeting on Saturday October 3rd, 2004, to take
stock of the one year existence of A&S and to decide if the project is
worth continuing, and if so, how it should continue.
HOW THIS WILL BE DONE
Copies of all A&S minutes and documents will be put up on a secure
website where participants and observors of the meeting can read them
before attending. Everyone coming to the conference is encouraged to
read over these documents so that we can get a sense of where we have
come from and what our political evolution has been. This would include
the six documents currently posted at
http://auto_sol.tao.ca/?q=taxonomy/page/or/3, plus any other documents
we'd like to read and go over. (the website protocol doc, internal
documents sent out from the A&S list, etc.)

The decision makers at this meeting will consist of all people who have
participated in A&S by having been part of the internal A&S listserve.
People who are on A&S friends listserve, who are interested in A&S, but
who have never been formally involved with A&S are invited to attend the
meeting as observers. (All of those wishing to attend the meeting as
observers must write an email explaining why they're interested in
coming to the meeting and then have their participation as observers
approved by the A&S Toronto and Sudbury collectives.) If you are
interested in coming to the meeting as an observer, please email
auto_sol@tao.ca with a letter introducing yourself.

AGENDA OF THE MEETING

Part 1. A.) An assessment of the work of A&S. An introduction to A&S,
how it came to exist as a tendency in the NSG, and an assessment the
work we've done so far. Presentations of the work we've done in holding
pubic events, the website and reading groups. Reports from Toronto and
Sudbury collectives, web page collective, and individual go around
talking about our various areas of activism and work with A&S.

Part 1. B.) The ideas of A&S. A presentation about what kinds of ideas
define our core politics and a presentation of the ideas in our various
documents. This will include a discussion addressing such things as how
we think organized revolutionaries should approach mass movements, the
politics of responsibility and anti-oppression, and what we think the
purposes of revolutionary organizations should be.

Part 3. What could / should A&S be doing in the future (if anything?)
Here we do a go around about what we think A&S could and should be, and
define what our commitments are. Based upon what people say, we either
wrap up A&S, continue more or less as is, or change it into something
else. This is the most important part of the meeting where specific
action proposals and or methods of organizing can be discussed and
adopted.

It would be highly recommended that if people have specific proposals
for what A&S is they can make them before hand, and this session can be
made larger so that these ideas can be discussed.

Part 4. The A&S Website. This part of the meeting is obviously
dependent upon what has been decided in part 3, but the idea is to have
a brainstorming discussion on the website divide up tasks and areas of
work for the website and talk about projects to initiate.

Part 5. New Business to discuss. Any other proposals or plans of
action, future meetings, etc.

Part 6. Social event.
