** Book Launch by Sara Mendez ** (from the Anarchist Federation of Uruguay)
** Video and Music ** SUNDAY, SEPT 12. at 3PM Club Social Argentina

This book recounts the story of one of the greatest crimes of the
Urugauyan dictatorship of the 70s.
Sara Mendez -- social pyschologist and teacher, Sara was active in the
Anarchist Federation of Uruguay and the Student Workers Resistance. After
the coup d'etat in Uruguay in 1974, she takes exile in Argentina.

During a police operative coordinated between Argentina and Uruguay, she
was kidnapped and transferred to Uruguay, where her 20 month old baby,
Simon, was taken from her. After her release, she continued to denounce
the crimes of the dictatorship. After 26 years, she was rejoined with her
son.

The book recounts the story of Elena Quinteros, arrested and forced to be
an informant. She escapes to take refuge in the Venezuelan Embassy, where
she is kidnapped by the Urugayan police. Like thousands of others, she is
disappeared. It is a hommage to the long struggle of Toto Quinteras,
Elena's mother, who died without knowing the whereabouts of her daughter.
