1) Russian Anarchist in Frame-up
News attention has very much been focused on Russia of
late, with the massive tradegy at School Number One.
Some have picked up on the cycle of terror being
played out; "Terrorists attacks in Moscow and Beslan
are echo of the war in Caucasus, they follow from
daily war crimes, mop-up operations, destruction of
peaceful inhabitants. State terror gives birth to
answering terror - and neither of them may be
justified....And every time, what follows the
nightmare is the same: fear, hysteria, apathy,
powerlesness - in the society, growth of ethnical
hatred and calls to strenghten police executive
powers, censorship and control of the state over
people." An example of such repression has happened to
antifascist, anarchist and independent journalist
Alexey Cherepanov, who was arrested in the Russian
city of Krasnodar by the state drug enforcement
agency. He is being framed for the alleged possession
of marihuana and heroin and is now facing up to three
years imprisonment in a purely political case! For
information on supporting him see:

leaflet on Beslan massacre) see

2) Govt. Says Fairford 5 Case Ruling May Threaten
National Security

A copy of the statement below was presented at the
Royal Courts of Justice 10 minutes before appeal the
current Fairford 5 appeal started. The prosecution
declined to accept it into evidence so according to
the Fairford 5, it's okay to publisise it. It is a
very telling document, choice bits are:

"In the judgment of the Secretary of State and the
Foreign & Commonwealth Office, and in my own opinion,
it would be prejudicial to the national interest and
to the conduct of the Government's foreign policy if
the English courts were to express opinions on
questions of international law concerning the use of
force by the United Kingdom and other States which
might differ from those expressed by the Government
and advanced by it in the conduct of international
relations."

"A decision by the Courts, which was contrary to the
Government's position on the legality of the use of
force in Iraq, is likely to give rise to a number of
serious risks for the United Kingdom. It is likely
that such a decision would provide encouragement to
those in Iraq who are using violence to destabilise
the situation, including insurgents, terrorists,
former regime loyalists and those in Middle Eastern
countries who are supporting them."

"More generally if the result of a court ruling were
disagreement by an English court with the Government's
position on the legality of the use of force against
Iraq, that would be injurious to the conduct by the
Government of international relations across a wide
range. It could, in particular, undermine the
Government's standing in its relations with Arab and
Islamic countries, and could give comfort and
encouragement to terrorist organisations. Given the
current threats from terrorism and proliferation of
weapons of mass destruction, relations with these
countries are of great importance for the national
security of the United Kingdom."

Boy-o-boy, do they sound desparate not to have the
court rule the war illegal!!!! Full statement can be
