The Anarchist Library at City College of San Francisco is a
student run library whose mission is to provide students with
radical books that can be checked out with-out ever having to
worry about the FBI finding out what you've been reading. Thats
right, the Anarchist Library is a USA PATRIOT Act Free Zone.
Our library makes radical books, with a special emphasis on
anarchist books, accessible to students through a book check-out
system that keeps no records and relies soley on a belief that,
humans, if left to their own devices; both in the absence of
authoritarian librarians and fines; will make healthy decisions
that will benifit the entire library community and will, in the end,
return their books. So far so good.
Another Aspect of the Anarchist Library is our classes which are
open to the public free of charge. We started the classes at the
beginning of the 2004' Spring Semester with a class on the
History of Anarchism in California, taught by Barry Pateman
Phd., of the Emma Goldman Papers in Berkeley. Barry will be
back for the Fall Semester to help with a few classes that the
Anarchist Library will be hosting.
The Anarchist Library is open to the public Mon.-Fri., 8 AM-6
PM durring the Fall and Spring Semesters. We are located on the
CCSF Phelan Campus in the Student Union, MLK office A.
To get to CCSF (Phelan Campus) by BART get off at Balboa
Park Station and walk up Ocean Ave.
To get to CCSF by car take the 280 to Ocean Ave. exit.
