Every Friday, 10 am meet at the Frigo Vert 2130 Mackay
For the last few weeks, a work conflict has been undergoing at Hôtel du
Fort, in downtown Montreal. The cleaning staff, in majority immigrant
women, are being refused the possibility to negotiate a common contract
with other workers from the hotel industry, a practice that is frequently
used by their union federation, the CSN. In fact, hotel workers who are
part of the common contract negociations get better wages and working
conditions than those who are excluded from this process. The fight of the
Hôtel du Fort strikers is a fight to improve their own conditions, but it
is also to strengthen industrial unity amongst hotel workers across the province.

Since the strike has begun, the bosses have been using scabs to replace
the regular staff. They also installed a security guard at the entrance of
the hotel. The permitted zone for picketing is rather limited. Everything
is being tried to break the workers morale. They need our support!

For the last 2 weeks, workers from the People's Potato and the Frigo Vert
at Concordia University, some also being anarchists and socialists who
support labor struggles, are showing solidarity with the strikers at Hôtel
du Fort. Be it only by visiting the picket line, by bringing coffee and
food or by talking about the strike to others, our support has resulted in
the Hôtel du Fort employees feeling less lonely in their fight. This
conflict might potentially last for many more weeks. More solidarity is
needed.

We thus invite you to come to our Weekly Solidarity Picket, every Friday
from 10am to noon. At 10am, we meet at the Frigo Vert
(Maisonneuve/Mackay), to then head to Hôtel du Fort (Ste-Catherine/Du
Fort) at around 10:30.

If you can't come to the solidarity picket but want to do someting to help
