Osiyo. I would first like to apologize to everyone for the delay in
sharing news of the outcome of the campaign to win my freedom.
Many people the world over answered my cry for justice, my plea
to be released from my captors. I thank everyone who played a
part ; from writing letters and signing petitions, to making phone
calls and traveling many miles to attend the hearing, and for
sending me your words of solidarity and keeping me in your
prayers. No part is ever too small or insignificant. On June 21st as
a result of your solidarity and commitment to justice, I was
released from prison after spending 8 years of a 90 year sentence
inside the iron house for crimes I did not commit.

For the past couple of months I have been enjoying the freedom
that you have won for me . I have been busy working to provide
for my family, talking to friends I made during those long years of
confinement, and meeting with local people to organize around
the issues pertinent to us all. I have been writing to some of the
brave men and women who are still being held hostage for their
dedication to freedom and equality. The fact that I am now free
from prison gives me the hope that one day they too will transcend
the tortures they face on a daily basis. To accomplish this it will
take more of the same determination and sacrifice it took to get
me where I am today. It’s up to us to make the decision as to
when our warriors come home.

Again, thank you for giving me my life back.

Your brother in struggle,
John Two-Names
