Anti-Authoritarian Support for Liberation Struggles A PANEL DISCUSSION
Friday May 14th, 2004 7pm - 9pm 1710 Beaudry (metro Beaudry)
The Anarchy and Solidarity panel discussion is the opening event for the
Montreal Anarchist Bookfair. It will feature speakers addressing anarchist
and anti-authoritarian support for liberation struggles around the world.
>From the growing resistance to the occupation of Iraq, to the frontlines
of the struggle for Palestinian liberation, to the continuing popular
revolts to economic neo-liberalism on the streets Argentina, anarchists
are playing important roles supporting and participating in liberation
struggles. This event will provide a space for speakers to share
perspectives from their involvements in popular struggles, focusing on why
it is important for anarchists to work in solidarity with liberation
struggles, how to negotiate contradictions which arise in solidarity work
with movements whose politics differ greatly from one's own, and how
frontline participation in these movements is shaping the larger anarchist
movement throughout the world.

WITH PRESENTATIONS FROM:

---> ANDREA SCHMIDT: Andrea is a Montreal-based activist, anarchist and
writer who has just returned from living and working for three months in
occupied Iraq, with the Iraq Solidarity Project (ISP). She has provided
written and audio reports, working especially in Sadr city, the heart of
the Shia uprising against the occupation in Baghdad. Andrea organizes in
Montreal with CLAC Logement and as support for the Action Committee of
Non-Status Algerians.

---> GRACIELA MONTEAGUDO: Graciela is an Argentine human rights organizer
and community artist. She spends time in Vermont, USA and Argentina.
Lately, Graciela has been coordinating the Argentina Autonomista Project
(www.autonomista.org) and touring internationally with multimedia
presentations about the Argentinean social movements. Her latest
production, "Que se vayan tod@s, a cardboard piece", tells the history of
the social movements in Argentina with an emphasis on current events.

---> MOSTAFAH HENAWAY: Mostafah lived and worked for five months in
Occupied Palestine during 2003, working with the International Solidarity
Movement (ISM) in Jenin, Palestine. Working as the international
coordinator for the ISM in Jenin and surrounding villages, he organized
direct actions against the ongoing construction of the Apartheid Wall and
in support of the Palestinian Olive Harvest. Based in Toronto, Mostafah is
involved with the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty (OCAP) and Sumoud, a
political prisoners solidarity group.

---> SOLEDAD DELGADO: Soledad is a member of the International Solidarity
Movement of Montreal (ISM). Throughout the summer of 2003 Soledad worked
and lived in Occupied Palestine, organizing with the ISM as part of the
Freedom Summer Campaign, which brought together Palestinians and
internationals to collectively resist through direct actions, the ongoing
effort of the Israeli state to construct the Apartheid Wall. Soledad is
also active in Montreal with the Solidarity Across Borders Campaign, which
brings together various immigrant and refugee communities, in their fight
for justice, dignity and status in Canada.
