Ex-Grand Banks - Occupied Social Centre
Opening night was last Friday where we continued our acts against intellectual
property by showing "21 Grams" the new Sean Penn film. Around 70 - 80 people
showed up many from the local area amazed that we had finalliy occupied 156-158
Fortess Road after 2 years of it being vacant. So far so good, a very positive
response to our project and we even recieved a donation of 4 huge veggie Pizzas
from Tops Pizza who were are next door nieghbours at 93 Fortess Road! On Saturday we
held an Anti-repression night event with short talks from Guy Smallman and Simon Chapman
about last years events in Geneva and Thessaloniki respectively. Again a different
crowd of about 60 - 70 people showed up - locals, anarchos, as well as local anarchos!

Anti-Prison Demonstration

Although it was only organised among a few people and only in the space of a
few days, our contribution to International Womens Day was to make as much
noise outside Holloway Prison as possible and to communicate with passersby,
school kids and friends and families of prisoners. Around 40 - 50
anti-authoritarians and anarchists took part, attempting to block Securicor
vans and the roads, there were a few scuffles with around 25 cops when this
happen - no one really wanting to kick-off but people were successfully
de-arrested. The text of the leaflet will be posted to the site soon.

>>>International Womens Day Cafe @ Ex-Grand Banks

Small but well formed [!] event afterwards with a cafe, visuals and music up
until midnight or so. Due to usual womble-fuck-ups, the prison discussion
didn't happen which was a shame. Our point of doing the demo at Holloway as
well as having a mixed event in the evening AND talking about prisons was to
go beyond the usual stereotypes of international womens day discussions and
talk concretely about our next step against prisons. This discussion will
happen in the next few weeks.

beyond the preponderance of internet cafes, a Hacklab is a
political space used for alternative media, the use and
development of free software and other emancepatory techologies,
skill sharing and collective learning, community projects and
anything else we can organise. The projects that happen there
will depend on the commitment of those involved.
