After a bit of post-consulta recovery time, we figured it was about time to send
out a short note to let everyone know how the consulta went and what happened.
All in all, we had a productive weekend. About 100 people came to Boston
for the weekend, some from the South, Midwest and West, and many more
from the northeast region. We had a wall map for guests to mark the city
from where they'd come, and the map even got the proper treatment from
participants, being renamed the "Loose Confederations of Autonomous Non-
States of Far Northern Mexico," surrounded by the "Non-Pacifist Ocean"
on the west and the "Anarchic Ocean" on the east.

The consulta got underway Saturday morning - aided, of course, by some
tasty oatmeal and coffee courtesy of our local Cambridge Food Not Bombs
- with the first half of the day dedicated to informational presentations
by the BTS (this session was open to all and will be available soon on
www.blackteasociety.org - writeups by both a participant and by organizers)
and the second half of the day a closed session discussion (which had
its agenda set by participants) for anti-authoritarians wanting more
specific information, wanting to share and generate ideas for action
and generally network with other AAs. After this facilitated discussion,
we split up into breakup groups that came out of this discussion and
were able to talk more specifically about things such as outreach & propaganda,
a DNC to RNC march, a festive Bazaar event, among other things.

For Sunday, we had a full slate of workshops that everyone could attend.
We started out with a legal training and Q&A run by an (a) and member
of our local National Lawyers Guild. A couple folks from Boston Indy
Media ran a demo & discussion to aid people wanting to become the media
this coming summer. Boston Area Liberation Medics were kind enough to
come and do a basic health and safety training; a few folks from BTS
went over the basics of forming affinity groups, and the Anarchist Black
Cross of Boston went over the basics of staying safe on the streets,
from what to do when stopped by cops all the way through jail solidarity
tactics if arrested.

By Monday, most people had left town, but those who were still in town
had breakfast and some informal discussions before heading back home.

In the end, the BTS raised a bit of money for a convergence space (we
still need way more; if anyone wants to make a donation, please drop
us a line at nodnc04@hush.com), generated some noise in mainstream media
(see links below), and we got to meet a whole lot of great folks from
across the country who gave us some great feedback and ideas and who
we'll likely see again this summer.

Special thanks to Food Not Bombs, Boston Area Liberation Medics, National
Lawyers Guild, Independent Media Center Boston, Boston Anarchist Black
Cross and everyone who helped make this consulta a success!

in solidarity and struggle,
-Bl(A)ck Tea Society
