A group of protestors including various leftist groups and anarchists
experienced cops' brutal attack with gas bombs, pepper sprays and truncheons
right after press release was read in the name of "Alliance Against NATO and
Bush" in front of Galatasaray High School at 11:30. Anarchists and some
leftists clashed with cops while they were splitting away towards Tunel
direction. After the intervention in which there were also arrests, activists
left away. It was reported that none of Black Block anarchists got arrested.
Also according to the news of CNNTURK a group of 5 antimilitarists came to
the border of red zone and wanted to search on the participators -who were
about to leave NATO summit- to find out whether they have nuclear bombs,
tanks or so with them. Answer of a civil "official" who got mad was
interesting: "You are not cops, you cannot search on anyone!". Again none
got arrested during this action.

Meanwhile, 44 demonstrators including a video activist friend of ours' who
got arrested in yesterday's actions were reported to be released today after
they have been transferred to the judicial institutions.

One of the most tragic-comic news of the day was Turkey's Foreign Minister
Abdullah Gul's thanking to the organizations that held anti NATO meeting
providing release of 3 citizens of Turkey who were kidnapped by Iraqi
militants. We are not interested in that but if they walk on this path they
will have to thank more often! (22:00 - 29.06.2004)
