"This time, bourgeois politicians won't be the only ones to speak…"
In each election campaign under capitalism, the orgy of promises,
the abundance of lies and the absolute vacuum of the politicians'
talks is astonishing. And this time, it seems even worse than ever before!
After 11 years of massive cutbacks in health and social housing,
as well as poverty increasing and systematic corruption thanks to
the Liberal government, the promises that each party are now
making -- which adds up several tens of billion dollars -- seem
more eccentric than ever. One after another, the big parties are
saying that they will improve the situation; but if this was true,
why did they not do their job before?

Now they complain because at least 40% of the population do not
believe them anymore and will stay home instead of voting. But
that's their problem, not ours! The system they defend which
only generates misery, poverty, repression, discrimination and
inequalities and which maintains colonialism against the First
Nations: this system does not deserve that we grant it any more
legitimacy.

The rulers use to say that election day is the "most important day
for democracy". But that is precisely the problem: we can only
enjoy one day of "democracy" each four years (and moreover it is
a faked one) whereas what we need and want is 1,460 days of
struggle and of solidarity against the ruling class!

On Friday, June 25 in Montreal, there will be a demonstration to
condemn the electoral farce and to promote instead genuine
people's power. The gathering is at 6:30 p.m. at Square
Phillips, corner Ste-Catherine and Union St. (close to the McGill
metro station).

For more than five weeks, we will have heard bourgeois
politicians all day long; we will have seen their faces on all those
thousands of ridiculous signs which they affixed on all poles
(whereas usually, social activists who have misfortune to fix
some posters on the public highway are arrested and must face
huge fines): on June 25, it will be our turn to speak loud and say
what we think of their rotted system!
