Solidarity Federation members who work in the same work sector
have formed Networks. Their purpose is to promote solidarity
amongst workers. Networks also use Direct Action to fight for
better pay and conditions. Networks form the basis of a completely
new labour movement, nothing like the Trade Unions, which are
weakened by having to abide by ridiculous laws, and by hierarchical
power structures and self-interested paid officials. The fundamentally
different nature of Networks fits their fundamentally different aim.

Communication Workers' Network - CWN
CWN is a small and newish network, but interest is growing rapidly.
Our occasional bulletin, Communication Worker, has covered various
issues, from bullying and harassment by management to digging the
dirt on the Labour Party. A particular topic is highlighting the
news and facts the CWU leadership tends to miss out in their multi-
thousand pound mail-outs to members. For example, we report actions
that the CWU does not, such as spontaneous walk-outs, go-slows, sit-ins,
and other unofficial direct actions.
Since we are part of the anarcho-syndicalist Solidarity Federation, it
will come as no surprise that our perspective is from the shop floor.
We do not have paid officials; we are all volunteers, and there's no
kowtowing to party politics or toeing the government line. This network
is a means by which you can make heard your agenda and look after your
interests. The only true democracy is one that everyone is involved in.
If you work in the postal service or in the communications sector, if
you want to join the network, if you want some free copies of our bulletin,
or if you simply want to find out more... get in touch with us!

Education Workers' Network - EWN

The Education Workers' Network is open to all those working in education,
from porters to lecturers, to teachers, to clerical staff, to students.
The EWN seeks to work to provide support to those in education, and to do
so through self-education and activism. The long-term aim is the formation
of a revolutionary labour movement in the anarchosyndicalist model.

The position of the EWN as part of the Solidarity Federation and the
International Workers' Association is vital to place education within
the wider context and to provide links across the education sector and
around the world.

Public Service Workers' Network - PSWN

The Public Service Workers' Network (PSWN) is open to those working in
public services, be it in local government, the voluntary and community
sector, or in privatised, contracted or not for profit organisations. The
network provides a means whereby public service workers can support each
other and exchange information. The medium to long-term aim is the
formation of a revolutionary (anarcho-syndicalist) labour organisation.
The PSWN forms part of the Solidarity Federation, the British section of
the International Workers' Association.
