If ever there were a day to show the need
for a politician free society, June 10th is it.
Us Londoners are currently being bom-
barded with propaganda from candidates
and Parties in the Mayoral elections, Lon-
don Assembly elections and European elec-
tions. You may have even had a rosetted
political hack knocking on your door.
For the minority of you out there consid-
ering to take the time to vote:
The fact that these characterss only ap-
pear on our doorsteps at election time
proves that they are not interested in us -
beyond getting our vote that is.
You know as well as we do that once they
are in they do what they want, regardless
of promises made.
No matter what politican you vote for, all
votes are supportive of the party political
system that has had over 100 years to deliver
for working class people and still hasn't.
Any vote is a vote for the same old shit.
There is only one meaningful response to
politicians on the electoral merry-go-round
on June 10th - GET RID OF THEM ALL! - Lets
stop leaving the fate of society to politicians
and start acting to improve life ourselves.

Mayday in Walthamstow

International Workers Day saw the
Walthamstow Anarchists have a stall in the
Town Square followed by a successful pub-
lic meeting titled "Community and
Workplace organising". Local people in-
volved in different issues came and an in-
teresting discussion was had on the best
way to organise locally and the role that
this paper can have in supporting and ini-
tiating new campaigns.

A woman's place for the UCKG

As a question mark hangs over the future
of Walthamstow's EMD cinema, The Under-
dog takes another look at the dubious
beliefs and practices of its owners - the

Universal Church of the kingdom of God (UCKG).
In the spotlight this edition is the church's
charming approach to the role of women in marital life.
A browse through their website soon reveals the
UCKG's antiquated and bigoted views on the subject -
views which are helpfully doled out as `advice' for
readers. Predictably, this includes
a daunting list of domestic chores which a
woman should be solely responsible for;
but perhaps most disturbing of all is the
advice on how a wife should behave with
her husband.
For example, at the end of the day a hus-
band should return from work to find his
`lovely wife, clean and fresh, anxiously
waiting to greet him with a smile at the
door'. As if this unrealistic Stepford Wives-
like portrayal isn't bad enough, the ad-
vice moves on to take a more sinister turn.
Apparently, `wives love it when their hus-
band put their feet down' and for their
own good, should always allow him to make the
final decision. Without this, it implies, there
would be mayhem!!
But most worrying of all is a section seemingly
advocating rape within marriage. Readers are

`Women want to be the bait.
They love when their husbands
come hunting for them. Sometimes
her "no" is a "yes", because she
is actually trying to see how far
her husband will go to get a "yes"
from her. Husbands should take
the initiative'.

These dangerous views belong in the past;
but as long as the UCKG is operating they
will continue to spread this rubbish as part
of their `spiritual guidance'. Just one more
reason to say `No' to the UCKG.
