posted by bl(A)ck tea society on infoshop.org - Greetings from the Black Tea Society -
Here in Boston, plans are well underway to support folks who will
be coming into town to resist the DNC in July. This is our first
update, and while we have a lot going on in terms of planning, this
first newsletter focuses on the consulta coming up in February.
Stay tuned for further updates by subscribing to our low-traffic,
announcement-only list by sending an email to
DNC2004-subscribe@lists.riseup.net. And don't forget to check out
our website, www.blackteasociety.org. If you want to contact us
directly, please direct correspondence to nodnc04@hush.com.

-----CONSULTA REGISTRATION-----

If you are planning to come to the consulta but haven't registered
yet, please register! We need to know approximately how many
people are coming so we can plan accordingly. To register: please
send an email to nodnc04@hush.com with the following information:

* your name * name of organization or group (if applicable) * email
contact we should use * number of people coming * where you are
coming from * any other relevant information

(if you need housing or can offer housing, please let us know!)

-----CONSULTA SCHEDULE-----

The discussion part of the consulta will be held on Saturday,
February 14. If you can only make it for part of the consulta, this is
the day you probably don't want to miss.

The full schedule is as follows: -Fri, February 13: 8pm, Social
gathering and welcome -Sat, February 14: 10am, Consulta meeting
-Sun, February 15: Various skillshares and workshops from groups
such as the Boston Anarchist Black Cross (ABC), National
Lawyers Guild (NLG), Boston Area Liberation Medics (BALM
Squad) -Mon, February 16: 10am, Consulta wrap-up and final
discussion time

-----HOUSING-----

Obviously, a lot of folks are coming in from out of town and are
going to need a place to crash. Our ride and housing boards are not
yet up on our website,
http://blackteasociety.org/rides_housing.html, but they should be
soon. For the time until we have the boards up, we will try to
coordinate through email. If you need housing or can offer housing,
please email nodnc04@hush.com (please provide a contact and the
number of people who need housing/the number of people you can
house).

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED AND DID NOT
SPECIFY HOW MANY PEOPLE YOU ARE COMING WITH
AND/OR WHETHER OR NOT YOU NEED HOUSING, PLEASE
EMAIL US AGAIN WITH THE INFO!

-----FOOD-----

We're planning to have some Food Not Bombs meals during the
consulta, but you should also be prepared to take care of some of
your meals on your own.

-----CHILD CARE-----

We are pleased to announce that child care will be available both
during the consulta and during the DNC in July. So if you were
hesitant to come because you didn't know what to do with the kids,
worry no longer. We'll have volunteers to watch them while you
participate in consulta events. If you would like us to provide child
care for you during any part of the consulta, please email us at
nodnc04@hush.com and let us know how many children you'll be
bringing and their ages, as well as what days you anticipate needing
child care.

-----DRIVING & PARKING IN BOSTON-----

Just a heads up that parking in Boston can be a pain in the ass.
Street parking is metered and residential areas require resident
permits. You may want to park at or near a T station outside the
center of the city and take the T (www.mbta.com) into town - you
won't *need* your car in town; all of our events will be accessible
by subway. But if you want to bring your car in town, be prepared to
feed a meter or hope you find that elusive free place to park.

See you all in Boston soon!

The Bl(A)ck Tea Society is an ad-hoc coalition of
anti-authoritarians organizing in the Boston area
and beyond to resist the Democratic National Convention.
