After a rocky start the Boulder Free Space (Gorilla Love Community Space)
is finally ready to open with a bang. We're kicking it off with 3 days of
music, dancing, creativity and punk rock
Our attempt at opening last month turned into quite a
fiasco. Much thanks to the people that showed up!
We corrected the mistakes and are going to try again with a big
blow-out opening weekend. Details Below.
Starting Thursday, January 22nd, the space will be open to the
public from 12:00pm - 10:00pm Thursday - Sunday. This includes the
coffee shop, free store and the lending library.

Gorilla Love Points of Unity http://coloradicals.org/glb/love/points.html

We reject the institutions of control that often seem to have us by the
throats. From the current system of education to consumerism. We
reject the authoritarian nature of these institutions in favor of new,
creative methods of cooperation and mutual aid that puts us back in
direct control of our lives.

So many parts of our world are based on competition and violence.
Corporations, governments, stock markets all thrive on putting profits
above human needs and lives. We turn that system on its head by
creating alternatives to it. We believe that anything can be done with
cooperation while competition just tears us apart.

Though the core members of the Gorilla Love Brigade think and
organize along similar political lines our doors are always open to
people with different viewpoints, backgrounds and cultures. Healthy
debate and discussions on issues that affect our community can
benefit all of us.

Or any other ridiculous social barriers that aim to keep us fighting
amongst each other. We reject the notion that someone should be
treated as more or less of a person based on such superficial ideas as
skin color or sexuality. We realize that this system of white patriarchy
has been in place for many years and it will be a difficult battle, but we
must take steps to see that it is overcome. We realize that privilege
exists in every part of our lives and we are not wholly representative of
the struggle against oppression. We open our doors and our hearts to
anyone who feels oppressed or downtrodden, together we can create a
diverse and beautiful world.

The space is for all. This is not a unilateral effort, we are supported by
the community and want to meet the community’s needs as much
as possible. We are always open to suggestions, questions, and
criticism from folks who have an interest in the space. Hopefully our
efforts will help our radical/progressive circles grow and affect the
lives of thousands.

We organize and operate based on mutual respect for people. We want
to create a space where people aren’t concerned with our petty
differences and can build relationships and start revolutions in this

We reject the notion that one person or group can hold power over
another. We believe that governments, militaries, police, all
organizations that force their authority on other people are inherently
violent. We feel that individuals are their own authority.
We strive to be the change we wish to see and live in a way that
reaffirms our values. We are a decentralized collective that uses
consensus decision-making to make sure that everyone has an equal

The problems in this world cannot simply be voted away. We are
entrenched in war, greed, domination, capitalism, racism, classism and
the only way out is for us to take the power back into our own hands
and actively challenge the problems. Piece by piece, person by person,
heart by heart. This is what we’re doing.
