On 31 January 2004 in the main building of the Moscow State University
an action of information as part of the international day of actions
against the discrimination of "illegal" migrants. The action was an
initiative of a group of Moscow anarchists who handed out approximately
fifty leaflets with the following content:
Today is the International Day of Action against discrimination against
"illegal" migrants when entirely peaceful demonstration are being held
against racism, discrimination towards migrants and "sans-papiers". But
no. As if we did not have similar problems. We see the formation of
Fortress Europe, which denies the most basic rights to immigrants and
refugees (the right to residence, medical services, work, education,
citizenship, freedom of movement).

It is the same here. In our country there is discrimination towards
migrants from the countries of the CIS who arrive in our country. They
live in terrifying conditions, they work for half a kopeck and even
risk losing this job at a moment's notice. They are constantly forced
to bribe cops for the lack of papers which are practically impossible
to obtain through the existing bureaucratic structure. And the
authorities have every interest in maintaining this situation - so that
you can be driven into the same slavish conditions.

In this country, fascism and chauvinism are extensive: they degrade
people, they place people into unequal positions even because of their
appearance! And no-one is doing anything to stop this!!

All over Europe, the victims of repressive legislation are fighting for
their basic rights and for their survival. It is essential for those
whose rights are being denied should organize themselves.

Only authority divides us, and this separation is artificial. Do not
think that you will never become an "illegal". Anyone can become one.
And YOU might be next!.
