________________________________________________

This statement was written with the intention of dispelling the many
rumors about anarchists that have circulated throughout media coverage
of the events of January 8 and beyond. But most importantly to communicate
our intentions and reasons for participating in the protests, forums and
prayer vigils held since the shooting of James Taylor over a year ago.
We will not hide the fact that we are anarchists, nor will we hide the
fact that we are revolutionaries. We are not, as the mainstream media
would like to frame us, crazed violent youth that protest absolutely
everything. We protest the policies of the government because we see
that the negative affects of those policies, be they national or
international, often affect communities of color the most. We are
concerned because we see the killing of eight Black men and one Latino
man, as well as countless incidences of police brutality and terrorism,
as manifestations of the inherit racism that exists within police
departments, and the entire American capitalist system.

We recognize that there is a great mistrust of white activists among
affected communities, and in our opinion with good reason. Because of
this we think it important to make clear our intentions. We do not wish
to dictate, control or even advise the recent and continuing resistance
to the police state. As anarchists we have multiple goals. We realize
that, unfortunately we are a group of mostly white people, and we want
to acknowledge that we have privilege in this country because of the
color of our skin. And that our participation in this resistance does
not negate our white skin privilege. And second, we hope to listen and
learn from people of color in struggle. We recognize that your voices
are ignored by politicians, the police and the media. We are dedicated
to this process of re-education, and recognize that we can only begin to
change t he racism that exists in this society, and within us all, by
listening to voices that are often silenced by the political structure
of our city.

We will not back out of this struggle, and are dedicated to being white
allies in the struggle against police terror and racism. As anarchists
we support every action against the racist police state and rebellions
worldwide against injustice.

Signed,

anarchists in Louisville, Kentucky
