Dear comrades, The anarcho-syndicalist Workers Solidarity Alliance would like to share with
the anarchist, libertarian workers and anarcho-syndicalist movement this
statement. This statement is in response to the IWA's position concernig an
American affiliate. Since 1984 the WSA has been that affiliate.
We want to share this statement and other documents in the weeks to come
with our comrades in the international movement. While we are certainly
disappointed in the few small minded people in the IWA who control
information and policy, we continue to respect the many good militants who
remain in the IWA. We hope to continue to work with anarcho-syndicalists,
class struggle anarchist workers and IWA militants who want to work with us.

Those of you in America who are interested in building a class struggle
libertarian workers movement (based on the principles of solidarity, direct
action, federalism and self-organization) are invited to join in our
efforts. Please feel free to email us.

Yours in solidarity,

TO : IWA Secretariat, Sections & Friends

As we are still waiting to learn more about the Congress discussion on this
matter, the Workers Solidarity Alliance (WSA) issues this initial statement.

The WSA, while disappointed with the outcome of the Congress, is not
surprised by it.

For those of you who suggested to the WSA that the best course of action was
to reapply at the 2004 Congress, our answer remains the same. For those of
you who suggested to forget about the past injustices done to the WSA and
its members, our answer still remains the same.

For us, taking a principled position is more important than taking the path
of "least resistance". In a day and age when principle is forsaken at the
alter of opportunism and manipulation, we will not forsake our principles.
As we do not stand for injustice in the workplace or community, we will not
stand for injustice even within the IWA.

It would be easy for us to write a negative email, one which curses this one
and that one. As we leave this chapter in our history we do so with clean
hands and mind. We do so by walking the same road we have always traveled,
the high road.

Over the years we have met and worked with some decent, honorable and
wonderful militants and we look forward to continue working with them. The
WSA is proud of its more then 20 year association (longer for some) with the
IWA. We are proud of our many contributions to world anarcho-syndicalism.

WSA will continue to remain true to our anarcho-syndicalist commitment even
outside of the IWA. The WSA would like to continue to work with those in
the IWA who would like to work with us. We hold to our belief in the
principles of workers solidarity and mutual aid, which transcends the tunnel
vision that some in the IWA seem to have.

For a world without bosses, states and bureaucrats,

We write to inform you that the 22nd Congress clearly decided that
there exists no IWA-Section and/or Friends group in the USA and that
an eventual organization must apply for membership. The next IWA
Congress will be in Manchester in the end of 2006.

Further details will be available for you when we receive the
Congress protocol in some weeks.

Oslo the 11th of December 2004

With anarchosyndicalist greetings
Rolf Petter Larsen

PS:The NSF was reelected as the Section to elect the new
IWA-Secretariat, and this will probably be decided in the beginning
of January 2005.
