LAING O'ROURKE WORKERS SOLIDARITY ACTION
Some people from WOMBLES participated in a successful
solidarity action on Monday 22 Nov. in solidarity with some
militant workers in struggle against new contracts. Two cranes
were occupied for 16 hours and banners dropped. One reading
"Workers
Solidarity" and the other "Laing o'Rourke Exploits". Over 300
workers were leafletted, and there was overwhelming support
for the action. For background see www.wombles.org.uk.
Pictures will be added soon. This actions follows the initiatives
by 100 workers who have twiced occupied their canteen in
protest over the banning of GMB trade union officials to
represent their grievances. The struggle was completly
self-organised and shows that militant resistance by workers in
the contruction industry is still alive. Alot of contacts were
made and we decided to continue our support for their struggle.
*4 comrades were arrested for aggrevated tresspass and held for
19 hours, bailed to reappear at the police station on
December 30th (ouch!). 1 person seriously injured there ankle.

Precarity Day - December 11th
initially, we decided December 18th but Ramparts was already
booked and therefore it's happening on December 11th at
Ramparts.
It will be structured in three parts:
1st: Experiences & Infosharing
Open discussion on the impacts and effects of flexible labour
contracts, temp agencies and causalisation on our lives.
Attempting to form a collective analysis on how and why this
change in the world of work has occurred.
2nd: Collective Resistance
Screening: P2P Fightsharing "Precarity" DVD-Zine
* Struggles in Korea, Barcelona, Paris
* Actions in Milan & Madrid
followed by experiences of resistance against dole, temp and
work regimes
3rd: Flex-workers Fight Back
Final session will discuss various ideas around what can be
done. Feedbacking from the days discussions and the diversity
of interventions made against precarity around Europe.
>>We were gonna have a benefit on Dec 10th at St Georges but
no joy so the benefit will be in the evening of December 11th at
Ramparts. 5,000 colour A6 flyers are in the process of being
printed for this.
