The "Polish Libertarian Milieu Organizing the Anti-Summit
Wa29" is forced to express its indignation resulting from the policy of
authorities aimed against the opponents of The European Economic Forum.
The police and security service (Internal Security Agency - ISA) have
created an atmosphere of psychosis and hysteria around us, turning the
spiral of fear. In fact, more and more participants of the libertarian
movement engaged in organizing protests suffer form the attendant
repressions and escalation of violence. Just a few weeks before the
Forum a true activist-hunt has started in Warsaw, as well as in other
cities all over the country. Intimidations and persecutions, notorious
phone calls proposing meetings, summons to police stations,
interrogations, insistent home visitations, investigations at workplaces
and abodes, catching people with posters and pamphlets these are
common means applied by the police and ISA. Finally interceptions,
invigilation of phone calls and electronic mail. Furthermore, officers
wearing civilian clothes visit squats and centers of independent
culture. They also block concerts, discussions and information meetings
by intimidating the owners of cinemas, clubs and buildings, which the
meetings are planned in.

Through engaging in preparations for the demonstration, as
well as for the Alternative Economic Forum, we oppose the only right
neoliberal path, which the globalized world walks. We seek alternatives.
However, the authorities, who lack coherent knowledge about the
Anti-Summit, are trying to strike in its organizers at all cost. Void
of the ability of conversation and reasonable argumentation, they reach
for the only known means force and violence.

We shall not be intimidated! Aware of the fact that similar
actions of police and security service proceeded all international
protests, we shall stand strong against repression! Especially now,
when repressions have been becoming derision and scandal, as the Main
Police Headquarters gave positive opinions on legalization of the
demonstration.

Participation in a peaceful demonstration one of the means
of expressing beliefs is an undeniable citizen right in a democratic
state of law. Fearing of lawlessness and terror in police and security
service actions, we appealed for help in realizing this citizen right to
Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, which promised to set up
independent observers and provide law support in cases of political
repressions and law violations by the police. Today we submitted first
records of people repressed by the police and ISA to the Foundation. The
police was informed, that their actions towards the antiglobalists are
monitored at the yesterday meeting of the representatives of the
Foundation with the Police Chief Siewierski.

According to the previous declarations, the Milieu is going
to focus all efforts on making the main demonstration peaceful. We want
it to attract not only the members of the alterglobalist movement, but
also the inhabitants of Warsaw. There is no need to board up the city.
We only demand freedom in expressing our own beliefs! Simultaneously we
want to emphasize that as anarchists in case of unjustified
aggression of the police we will not remain passive and will apply the
tactic of active defense.

Finally, we address to the Police Chief Siewierski demanding
him to apologize the management of Praha Cinema for the unjustified
visit of police officers (details in the appendix) and to declare that
the police has nothing to do with intimidating against alterglobalists
and advising not to cooperate with them because it would be
contradictory to the constitutional record about freedom of expressing
beliefs. Moreover, to ask the management to change their decision again
and allow the previously planned movie presentations to take place.
