This Saturday, April 10th Through The Wire has organized an Emergency
Rally and Speakout Against the Occupation of Iraq. We felt it was
critical to put something together really soon due to the massive
escalation of the U.S. military's assault on the people of Iraq. There
is growing concern about U.S. involvement and we should do what we can
to keep pushing for an end to the occupation while momentum is growing.
It is obvious that the resistance growing in Iraq is not tied to Saddam
Hussein, but is a popular movement against U.S. imperialism, which is
uniting people across religious lines. Progressive people in the U.S.
need to support self-determination for the Iraqi people, and demand the
U.S. bring the troops home now!

There will be prop making/preparation meeting Saturday April 10th at
11am at the Brighter Days Infoshop.

The rally will take place at 5pm Saturday April 10th at Fountain Square
Park in front of the Marriott hotel in downtown east lansing (corner of
albert and MAC). What happens then depends on who shows up. We would
like to have people speak and have a short march through east lansing.

"The Wire was initiated by members of Direct Action (an
anti-authoritarian, anti-capitalist group) and Nightvision Anarchist
Collective (Member of FRAC) to work against militarism within the high
schools. It is not an anarchist group, but is run along anti-authoritarian
lines. Whereas other peace groups have focused on working with teachers and
administrators, we have been working to build a movement with high school
students for control of their schools, and for real options - not a military
dead end."
