AYN should be used as a networking tool, to get young people
involved in anarchist politics.
It was announced that there would be a meeting in late
September, about starting a new anti-fascist network.
AYN will not join SolFed/Class War/AFed at Bradford style
meetings in the future. However members/groups could get
involved in anarchist projects such as Anti-Fascist
Action/Freedom Press/etc. (sorry this part of my notes were a bit
confusing ed)

'Hub' was discussed (www.hub.org.uk). A couple of people from
AYN attended and concluded that the first meeting wasn't very
productive, although it was agreed that the idea was very
important. One point of view raised was that the Hub idea
probably wouldn't work if it tried to spread from a centre (i.e.
London). But if local groups start to communicate more, a viable
network could form.

Some people discussed creating an 'infoshop' style website for the
UK (www.enrager.net). It would have sections based on regions
too help people get in contact with activity in their local area. It
would also have a moderated newswire. Those running the
website encouraged local AYN groups to submit news to the site
when it is up and running.

A network of London anarchists was discussed. People
suggested AYN was a good example of local groups and people
with different views working together. Sectarianism is a big
problem in the anarchist movement, with too many people
'institutionalised' by their groups.

Thousands of anarchists come to the bookfair every year, but they
are not seen at any meetings, how can they become more
involved?

AYN proposes doing a callout for anarchist unity, but instead of a
meeting to discuss it, as an action. It was decided to call for a
Libertarian Bloc on the DSEi March (06/09/03) and also the Stop
The War March (27/09/03).

AYN would not organise anything on the direct action day of
DSEi, but let local groups organise their own affinity groups.

Campaign Against Prison Slavery (CAPS) was talked about, in
particular the campaign against Wilkinson's. There will be a CAPS
meeting in London in September. (www.againstprisonslavery.org).
As a network AYN would like to affiliate, but decided not to
spend the 50 needed to do so. If anyone wants to put up the
money, AYN would like to join. However local groups are
encouraged to get involved in the campaign locally. If a new local
group is set up, it is good to have campaign to work on, and CAPS
was suggested as one people could do. People who want to get
involved can contact the website.

There will be a Libertarian Social Forum in November 2004 in
Paris. When more is known, AYN can decide whether to affiliate.
This will be discussed at the next gathering.
At the European Social Forum in November 2003 in Paris, there is
also expected to be a libertarian presence. Those interested in
discussing ESF will meet up later.

Anarchist Bookfair (25/10/03). AYN will have one stall, a rota of
people will be needed to man it for the duration of the bookfair.
AYN should also have some nice leaflets and stickers, etc ready.
The cost of the stall will be shared by London, Manchester and
maybe Norwich.

National Network Of Students, could be a visible alternative to
SWP. Getting students to form groups within their universities
(free money is available from the union). The groups could then
network with AYN (although slightly more informally than current
AYN local groups). The student network could get involved in
fighting corporate infiltration in universities, anti-fascist actions,
etc.
A working group was agreed to set up the network, which will
have a meeting at the anarchist bookfair.
