Libertarian Social Forum 11-16 November 2003, Saint-Ouen (Paris)
No government, left nor right, can or wants to question
capitalism. No government, today or tomorrow, will protect us
from job losses, from the spread of temporary employment, from
miserable wages, from the attacks on social protection, from the
dismantling of public services, from security-obsessed policies
or from racist laws.
The liberalist system which is being promoted by the bosses is
responsible for so much misery and revolt that it requires an
openly Police State.

By having our lives reduced to mere commercialization, many of
us live unbearably oppressive lives as a result of this
liberalist ideology. This is expressed on the streets, in our
workplaces and in our associations... the refusal of this
society is federating an ever greater number of people. A
refusal which builds social struggles but which often limits
itself by not advancing a vision of a society which breaks with
capitalism.

In parallel, libertarian social practices are developing, with
coordination of the struggles, the "rule" of general assemblies,
direct democracy, direct action, anti-capitalist syndicalism...

In Argentina, Kabyle, Mexico ... in France:

* from winter 1995 up to the recent social meovement of the
spring and summer 2003;

* from the anti-globalization struggles (G8 at Evian) to the
struggles for the freedom of movement and residence alongside
the sans-papiers;

* the movements of the unemployed, the struggle against
patriarchy, the fight for free transport and the ecological
struggles...

Libertarians are building a social alternative to the system.

They are gathering today the experiences and the possible basis
for tomorrow's society.

Libertarians are putting forward immediate demands to break with
capitalism, patriarchy, statism, xenophobic nationalism,
militarism, sexism, productivism and religion.

Libertarians are participating in the building of self-managed
practices based on direct action, the direct management of
struggles by those involved, strike committees, mandates and the
control of delegates (recallable mandate).

We urgently need to shout to all those who feel like they are
banging their heads against a brick wall that there is hope for
a different society.

No-one can break down this wall for us.

The political parties are stuck trying to manage this system in
a more or less social way. They dream of capitalism with a human
face where poverty and injustice will not be suppressed.

We CAN knock this wall down.

There are other possible worlds. This idea is widely accepted
today, and that in itself is a victory.

Another world, yes. But which one?

How is it possible to imagine a society where the individual is
at the centre of social organization, where satisfying our needs
and sharing our resources equally take the place of profit,
where mutual aid and freedom take the place of power and
coercion?

Join us from 11-16 November 2003 for the Libertarian Social
Forum and the 2nd Anarchist Bookfair.
