The group had marched with black flags against a conference of yuppies, cops and business
people (like the CEO of the colonial Hudson's Bay Company). Photos and analysis coming soon.
Police attacked a peaceful protest, pepperspraying ten (which is the half)
and also jailing ten (6 of them are in the peppersprayed)
About twenty anti-capitalist protesters met this morning, at 11 oclock, at
the whale wall for what was supposed to be a protest against the rich
who are speaking of our future, at the downtown 2020 conference.
The protest started and stayed peacefull, as we started to walk through
the downtown of Victoria. The cops told us that they didn't mind if we
protested, but to do it on the sidewalk, which is total non-sense.

A part of the crowd then refused to see their right to protest taken away
and stayed on the street, walking down Douglas. As the cops were too
much harrassing, people entered in the Bay Center so the cops cars could
not follow us, to then get away at Fort and Broad . While we entered, the
cops arrested the last one in line, who did not enter the Mall for
"Breaching the Peace". 2 got arrested.

When we got out of the Mall, the cops arrived with a car and two vans of
cops, starting to arrest one of us, while we were on the sidewalk. People
protested and tryed to get this guy out of there, but then the cops attack
escalated. They sprayed mostly everything that was moving on the
horrified faces of the spectators. Some got sprayed twice, and a guy, who
was fucking bleeding from the nose got taken by the cops while people
were trying to help him with his injuries. Someone who was taking
pictures of the brutality got dragged by the throat arrested and pepper
sprayed in the eye at point blank range they trash his camera to the
ground. Somebody else was able to get picture and go without getting
arrested (pictures will come soon). One suffered from a broken finger,
which he cannot move anymore and his face smashed on the sidewalk,
and everything finished with 8 arrested and 10 peppersprayed (some of
them are both peppersprayed and arrested)

It is needless to say that everyone was released without charges, as it's
us that got attacked. There's no police report either saying we attacked
them, as we did not. The only reason they found to say about why they
attacked us is that somebody TRYED to grab a cop, which isn't true
either. There've been no damage and no action at all (we got arrested
right at the start of the march). Everybody got realeased from jail without
charges but:

-They took pictures of everybody (under what legal grounds, if they aren't
charged? They threaten to charge someone with obstruction if she
refused the picture)
-One person got his backpack, his wallet with his money and his nose ring
stolen while in jail.
-One person got his glasses stolen while in jail
-One person got their work tools stolen in jail
