A debate was held last 26th October in Oporto on
anarchosyndicalism as part of the Libertarian Encounter (an
iniciative from the Ecologist Association “Terra Viva” and
members from Oporto AIT/IWA). It was attended by around ten
comrades.
The discussions were about the following subjects:
Some generalities on anarchosyndicalism, and on the different
currents that claim to be part of it.
On the European Alternative Unions Meeting in Barcelona held
the 3rd, 4th and 5th Oct.
There was a presentation of a proposal on strategy, namely, to
build up our strenght inside the burocratic unions (there are no
grass-roots unions in Portugal) but in a collective perspective,
with organized tendencies based in the principles of grass-roots
unionism, anarchist in it's essence, non-dogmatic and
non-ideologized.
Also, a proposal was made of an "unemployment march" to perform
in the next Spring; this was made by a group that meets in the
«Biblioteca dos Operários», Lisbon.
The struggle from the petrol workers in Brazil was also
described by a comrade from Rio de Janeiro Anarchist Federation,
which had yielded the forming of an independent union, pointed
as an example of a struggle where a force was build up strong
enough to face the bosses from “Petrobras”, who had fired many
workers, through the independent self-organisation of the
workers concerned.
The oral interventions were in general construtive, the debate
continued during lunch time and in the days after through
e-mails.
