A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C E

Hello everybody, This is an email from Switzerland, Laussanne.
We are a group of people working after the G8 to
challenge the levels of repression that occured, and the impunity of the police that
did it. Specifically, we are some people who were involved with the affinty
group who made the bridge action in Aubonne where the climbers had their rope
cut, and one is now in hospital very injured.*
This email is designed to facilitate a very short notice
international day of little media actions. ON MONDAY
23rd JUNE (THIS MONDAY!!) Our thinking is that the story of repression around
the g8 is slowly fading from the media, and that the swiss authorities are
starting to feel a little too relieved by this.

What we propose, is that in as
many countries as possible, people pay simulataenious (ish) visits to their
local consulate, to present a list of enquiries and demands. Ideally, the
different groups will all be able to find an angle into their national media, and
make the visit along with a couple of journailsts to doccument it.

For example, we are hopeing that Guy Smallman will be able to go in the UK, and that in
spain, a member of Catalunian regional parliament will go, accompanied by a
lawyer from the international human rights lawyers group we are working with to
demand the open public inquiry into the policing and repression. The idea is
that in every country, we present the same list of demands, but this should
also allow space for each working group to include their key objectives, for
example, in the case of guy, there is an opportunity to talk about the rights
of free press, and of individuals and journalists rights to bear witness
etcThe general letter should definatly include; The demand for open and
independant public inquiry, monitered and followed up by the international human
rights lawyers (they did the carlas guiliani stuff).

There are lawyers from this group in plenty of countries,
so hopefully a lot of them can attend their
respective actions. The commitment from swiss state to fully compensate, medically
and legally all the victims of police brutality during the g8.
The suspension of the policeman who cut the rope, and
his commander on the day, pending the
outcome of the criminal investigation. The immediate dismantling of the neo
liberal world order. (or maybe not). The first two are the continuing demands of
the climbers in barelona who still hang after over 140 hours outside the
swiss consulate there.
It is partially because of the great effort from the
barcelona posse that we feel the urgent need to mount some other forms of media
actions. They cannot hang for ever, and dont have the full responsibilty to
break the will of the Swiss state alone. It would be super cool if we
collectivley take the relay batton from the barcelona group, who are completly
Those who aren't climbing have been living on a pavement next to a motorway
since friday, and they all need support, and a bit of help with the end
game of their action. It is important to take example from people in the uk, who
have mounted two seperate consulate actions, with 6 and 4 people
We dont need thousands of people to do this kind of action, just a few in
everyplace, and good media work around it.
We are working now on putting the
package and letter together to present to the consulates, and a press release.
We will send these out to all the groups that contact us by sunday night and
confirm participation. So far, there is commitment to participate in Madrid,
brcelona, various french cities, the UK and Swiss, but we need more.
We would like visits in at least all the consulates in all the G8 contries
It dosen't take so much time to call a couple of journalists and make a polite call to the
consulate. It dosent even need to be an occupation, just a visit with press,
so the swiss publicly reject (or amazingly accept)the need to independant
inquiries and to hold themselves, the G8 and their forces accountable (again).
Maybe, with a few forwarded emails, we can have more than a group of 8
countries. If people are planning other things, this might be a good time to do it,
or not, you know best on this.please reply fast as possible
is an update list and for support letters
for martinThanks the Aubonne Groupyou know best.Regards, The Aubonne Group
