Jura Computer Appeal: Old Computers, Donations for New Computers, Win98,
Office, Printers, Lamps, Chairs, Desks, Metal Bookshelves, Techies, Plumbers, Laundry Sinks
> Dear Friend,
Refurbishments at Jura Books are proceeding rapidly.
We’re looking for both monetary and in-kind donations
to help us, in particular, to help us establish a
computer system.

The main things we are looking for are:

i. Donations of Old Computers: IBM Compatibles (i.e.
not Macs), 486 or more recent (i.e. no more than about
8-10 years old), complete systems (box, monitor,
mouse, keyboard) that are working are ideal. We’re
looking for about 6 to 8 computers.

ii. Monetary Donations for a New Computer: We’re
spending $1,300 on a new computer which will
eventually act as a server for the network at Jura.
We’ve raise about $600, and are looking for additional
donations to help us buy this in the next week or two.

These two things are our major priorities at the
moment. If you are able to help-out with either, then
you can call me (Nick) on 9594 0640 to organise to
either pick-up any donations of computers or money, or
organise a time when you can drop stuff off at Jura
Books.

Less pressing, but still important things we’re
looking for to help out with the refurbishments
include:
- copies (preferably not pirated) of Windows 98, or
any version of Office from 97 onwards.
- copies of other useful software.
- printers, that are working
- desk lamps
- decent quality desks
- chairs
- cans of paint and painting equipment
- metal bookshelves for the library, especially tall
bookshelves
- a laundry tub
- anyone with computer skills who wants to help to
set-up and maintain our computer network.
- a plumber who’d be prepared to donate some time to
help out.

In addition to all this, the main thing we’d love to
see is YOU. If your interested in getting involved in
Jura, there’s always tonnes going on, and things to be
done.

We’ll forward more information about our upcoming
political forums and events in the next couple of
days. In the next week, however, we have a couple of
general Jura activities, including:

Friday, 13th June, 6pm, Jura Books Collective Meeting
at Jura Books.

Saturday, 14th June , from 12pm, Jura Working Bee at
Jura Books.

Hope to see you or speak to you soon.

All the best,
Nick Harrigan
