The Convergence of Anti-Authoritarian Anti-Capitalist Struggles
against the G8 (CLAAAC G8) is pleased with the size of the
mobilizations in France and Switzerland over recent days against
the G8. The CLAAAC G8 was fully involved in the Alternative
Anti-Capitalist Anti-War Village (VAAAG) where thousands of
people from many countries came in order to put into practice
their alternatives to capitalism through debates, meetings and
actions.

Similarly, the CLAAAC's red and black march gathered several
thousands in the demonstration which left from Annemasse on
Sunday 1st June to denounce capitalism, patriarchy and
militarism. The mobilizations against the G8 in Evian and the
present social movement for the protection of pensions have the
same aim: the logic of capitalism and its political managers
who, on a worldwide scale, try to maintain and increase their
wealth and their powers by all means possible, at the expense of
the majority.

On the other hand, the CLAAAC G8 denounces the State violence
which, thanks to the police repression, has once again struck
many demonstrators, mainly in Switzerland - in Lausanne and
Geneva. It underlines that the drama of Genoa where one
demonstrator was killed by the police was on the point of
repeating itself when one demonstrator who was participating in
a blockade action on a motorway bridge at Aubonne was severely
injured when he fell from a height of 20 metres as a result of
police intervention which nearly cost the lives of two people.
The CLAAAC G8 denounces this repression, affirms its support for
all demonstrators who were victims of it and recalls that State
violence has always been a method used to maintain an unequal
social order for the benefit of a minority of dominators.

The size of the demonstrations against the G8 was assured thanks
to the mobilization of all those who fight for solidarity,
liberty and social justice. A world which is the exact opposite
of that which "their lordships" of the G8 want.
