Brothers and sisters:
Since the 16th June this year, we have been on the outskirts of
Oaxaca City, demanding dialogue with the governor, José Murat
Casab, so that he can meet our demands, which are basically:
1. Freedom for Oliverio Neri López and other political prisoners.
2. A solution to the agrarian conflict.
3. Attention to be paid to our social demands (health, food, education, roads, etc.).
4. The dismissal of Sergio Santibáñez, Erick Heras Velásquez,
José Manuel Vera Salinas and Juan Carlos Ramírez Pacheco.
5. A solution to the political conflict in the towns.

After 40 days of constant mobilizations, José Murat Casab has
refused dialogue and is also hindering the freedom of speech and
of movement in order to prevent our comrades from reaching
Oaxaca City.

On the other hand, the Oaxaca media have become the accomplices
of the government's repressive politics, by keeping the most
absolute silence about our problems, or by distorting the truth
when something has been written. They are debasing their papers
as methods of social comunication by their partiality. "The
Guelaguetza", far from serving as an instrument of solidarity
between people, has become a true hive of the rich. The people
must know the truth.

Far from providing solutions to the problems of repression
against social fighters (meaning imprisonment and
disappearances), out of a lack of attention to agrarian problems
and housing, health, education, roads, etc., the governor José
Murat is preparing for a real massacre in the best PRI style of
the '70s, as a way out of the problems. In some areas of the
media, the governor himself and some PRI municipal leaders have
announced the possibility of a confrontation between people in
order to evict us from the outskirts of the town.

WE CALL ON THE PEOPLE OF OAXACA, MEXICO AND THE WORLD TO GIVE
THEIR WIDEST POSSIBLE SUPPORT IN WHATEVER WAY THEY CAN - by
demonstrating at Mexican embassies in other countries,
mobilizations, messages to the governmental authorities at the
