Secretary of Social Action CGT-PV
The Supreme Court Hearing rejects the accusation of "terrorist gang" for the
four young anarchists detained in Valencia.
Neither the Delegation of the Government or the mass media that broadcasted
the false scoop against anarchism want to admit their mistake. For the
second time in a short period, the Supreme Court Hearing has rejected
accusations of terrorist gang against young anarchists kept in prison in
Valencia. In fact, after the release of the four that had been captured at
the squatter house 'Centro Social Ocupado Malas Pulgas', and after spending
four months in preventive prison, the Supreme Hearing decided to hand back
to the ordinary justice tribunals the case regarding other anarchists
captured at the Ateneo Libertario del Cabanyal centre, accused by the
police of sending a bomb devised letter and some other violent acts.
With this decision of the Supreme Hearing comes into evidence the obsession
of Juan Cotino against the young libertarian movements and the way some of
the mass media are eager to spread false information without any
verification not taking into account the harm caused to this families and
the ideas of this people. The fact that two of the detained had been
already freed demonstrates the inconsistency of the proves that they wanted
incontestable and solid.
The CGT considers that authorities shouldn't behave in such an eager way
and regrets the lack of rigours on the side of the information
professionals. During these days, the mass media hosted considerable space
in their programs focusing on the detentions but when it came to inform on
the release and the rejection of the accusations of terrorist gang the
attention was lowered. It is subjected to denounce the fact that
information under the secret summary (as it is an investigation on
application of antiterrorist laws) had been released while any contact with
the prisoners were not allowed to their families and lawyers.
>From CGT we urge Juan Cotino to resign and ask an explanation to clarify
and rectify the false information against libertarian movements as well as
a compensation for the moral harm inflicted to the prisoners and their
families. It is intolerable that every time housing or enterprise interest
is been hit Cotino and his squad crack down on anarchism and groups that
oppose to neo-liberalism and unilateral thought.
