Czech anarchists protest war against Iraq

PRAGUE, Czech Republic - About 250 anarchists marched
through the Czech capital on Saturday, protesting a possible
war against Iraq. 

The demonstrators waved black and red flags and displayed
anti-war banners that read "No more capitalist wars" and
"George Bush - Adolf Hitler's clone." They chanted slogans
such as "no blood for oil." 

The activists held speeches before they began the march. 

"It's not a war against terrorism but a terrorist war," said
a speaker who had covered his face with a green scarf. 

"War is a step 100 years backward," said Jakub Polak, a
leading Czech anarchist. 

The anarchists ended the demonstration outside the U.S.
Embassy. Police did not intervene, said police spokeswoman
Iva Knolova. 

The protest came a week after hundreds of people in Prague
and the Czech cities of Brno and Ostrava demonstrated
against the possible war as part of a series of worldwide
anti-war demonstrations.
