1. General organization of the VAAAG

The VAAAG will initially be organized on three levels:

* living areas ("quarters")
* inter-quarter collective area (reception, space for
coordination of information and action, children's area,
information area/press area for militants and alternative
* thematic areas (forum of social struggle, international
solidarity forum, independent media forum, independent and
alternative cultural forum, etc)

The "quarters" will be organized around a collective kitchen
which will be the central space of the life of each quarter.
They will be constituted on the principle of free association
while trying to favour the maximum exchange and possibility to
meet others, particularly on an international level. Think about
it when you settle in!

The quarters will be autonomous as regards their running,
actions and projects, within the framework of the VAAAG Appeal
and its operating charter.

Associations, political and labour organizations involved in the
organization and preparation of the VAAAG or who agree with the
text of the Appeal, can present themselves under their own names
within the Village. Nevertheless, their presence will be limited
to a precise space, to identified information areas, to militant
press tables and to stands for alternative and self-management
experiments. The organizations present within the VAAAG can also
organize and run debates in their own names.

The general organization of the Village will be the
responsibility of the local village collectives and the anti-G8
collectives who are part of the VAAAG project. Only these groups
will have full freedom of presence within the village. They make
up the coordination and organization of the VAAAG.

2. Operation of the VAAAG

Any sexist, racist, anti-Semitic, homophobic, agist or simply
violent behaviour or attitudes will be forbidden within the
village. Any person indulging in this type of behaviour will
have to account for themselves and if they should persist in
these statements or behaviour will no longer have any place
within the village.

A reception tent will be situated at the entrance to the
village. Anyone wishing to join the village must first present
themselves at this tent where the nature of the VAAAG will be
explained together with its operating charter and all the
necessary information to enable them to be integrated and to
take part as soon as possible in the life of the village.

The use of the motor vehicles is forbidden inside the village,
for obvious reasons of safety, peaceful existence, pollution,
etc. Exception will be made for emergency vehicles and vehicles
required for organization, set-up, housing and the collective
structures. A carpark will be provided for those participating
in the VAAAG.

A tent will be set up beside the reception where journalists,
photographers, sociologists, ethnologists or others must present
themselves to receive accreditation or be refused access to the
village. These people will not be able to move around the
village without authorization, which will be granted by the
VAAAG communications committee who will specify which areas may
be filmed or photographed in order to respect the privacy of
VAAAG participants.

Life and "consumption" within the village:
The VAAAG is not a place of consumption. People wishing to live
in the village must be involved in its everyday life, by
participating in kitchen duties, cleaning, group decisions, etc.

Whatever money may be collected (except at the press stalls),
will go obligatorily towards the shared finances of the village
and will be redistributed according to the village's
organizational and operational needs.

All kitchens will be free. Taking account of the convictions of
many of the participants with regard to animals, it is desirable
that kitchens should produce vegetarian meals.

Only alcohol will be sold at a price and its sale will be
limited to those areas decided and authorized by the VAAAG
organizing collective. All profits from the sale of alcohol will
be considered part of the village's shared finances in order to
allow the financing of part of our organizational and
operational overheads (electricity, hire costs, communication
expenses). Other drinks will be free.

Areas yet to be decided:

* the question of debates and interventions in the village
* the question of responibilities and decision-making methods
within the village
* the question of "security"
* the question of relations with the surrounding areas of the
* children's facilities
