URGENT SOLIDARITY WITH THE IMPRISONED ACTIVISTS
Last October 14, 4 young people were detained and accused of the
supposed crimes of public disorder and destruction of property. During
their rough 72 hour stay in the police station they were in a situation
of defenselessness, since their rights were systematically denied to
them and no information was given to their attorneys and relatives. They
were interrogated without judicial assistance and their addresses were
registered by police wearing balaclavas - they took from the people:
books, photos, posters, computers and all kinds of personal objects.
Just before the judicial declaration, the commissioner of the Brigade of
Information met with the judge in charge of the case Luis of Mesas
Rojas. Due to this meeting, the charges changed. In addition to the
previous crimes, they added those of ?Unlawful assembly with terrorist
purposes? and ?injuries of terrorist character.? This result was
preventive detention by a secret summary, consistent with the
obstruction of the defense of the arrested.
We denounce the transgressions on the part of the judge who was totally
linked to the Brigade of Information -- turning these 4 young men into
scapegoats for the mass media and presenting them as terrorists. In
order to front the possible bails and to organize a campaign of
solidarity and Information, we ask you that deposit money into the
account: 2090-2844-27-46-0074, by means of bank transference or directly
in the ATM. SEND THIS MESSAGE TO THE EVERYONE THAT YOU CAN. TODAY IT IS
THEM, TOMORROW IT COULD BE YOU. Enough with police montejas!!!

Protest in support of the four arrested
About four thousand people demonstrated yesterday in Valencia to ask for
the freedom of the four "okupas? (squatters) imprisoned last week under
the accusation of unlawful assembly of terrorism. The march, which had
not been communicated to the Delegation of the Government, was headed by
the relatives of the arrested and passed without incidents from Viveros
up to practically the beach of Las Arenas, near a house "okupada"(squat)
where the event ended in a concert. The whole demonstration produced
only a couple of clashes between the demonstrators and the enormous
police device that was guarding the police, though in one of these
skirmishes a demonstrator turned out to be hurt by the blow of an agent.

Like always, the demonstration was preceded by a concentration of police
in the main entry point of Viveros so the police could establish control
of all the accesses. The first ones there were the relatives of all four
arrested, who headed the protest carrying a placard that read: "Against
the criminalization of the social movements. Not more montajes". Behind
them were two thousand people - thousand for the police and four
thousand for the organizers - carrying placards that denounced the
police repression and warned that ?you reap what you sow".
At all times, the occasion warranted a peaceful demonstration. The
parents wanted it to be peaceful and the attendees of the protest, those
who came, respected it. There were only two incidents that were outlined
before - one resulting in an injured man. It was these moments of
escalation against the police that were the target of the critiques in
the whole protest. The delegate of the Government in the Valencian
Community, Juan Cotino, is to blame for everything that happened.
At the end of the protest, which was at the intersection of the streets
Mediterranean and Doctor Lluch, a letter from the arrested was read in
which they ask for solidarity not only for them, but for all the
prisoners. They were peacefully dispersed.
Fifty agents and nine trucks
The Delegation of the Government did not want the demonstration
yesterday to get out of the hand and even though everything was pointing
to a peaceful event, the police mounted a huge defense. In all the
access points to the demonstration, agents were identifying the people
who were coming in. When the march began, a cord was formed of up to
fifty agents to aid traffic.
Before and after the march nine police trucks were circulating around
and in all the crossings they had agents of the Local Police to control
the ?traffic?, the thing most harmed yesterday.
These conditions remained throughout the protest except when the agents
came to the end of Blasco Ibáñez. They were confused by the
demonstrators? improvisation and they left the march and went to the La
Reina Street house that was the origin of the incidents that resulted in
the 4 detentions and seemed to be the foreseeable end of the march. It
was not thus, but the police mobilization stayed in this place all night
in case the private security was not sufficient.
