Allan Antliff, "Hippolyte Havel and the Modernists of Revolt"
Hippolyte Havel was an anarchist-syndicalist and close friend of Emma
Goldman who supported the most innovative artists of his era. This talk
will discuss Havel's activities in New York, where he edited two
art-related publications, The Revolutionary Almanac (1914) and Revolt (1916).
This talk commemorates the publication of
Anarchist Modernism: Art, Politics and the First American Avant-Garde
(University of Chicago Press, 2001)
The book will be available for purchase ($50.00)
