Dear SISTER and Comrade,

Greetings from The Domestic Workers Association, Bangladesh.Here is the
report of the program of our organisation "Domestic Workers
Association,Bangladesh on the occation of " International Women,s day-2000".

On the occation of International Women,s Day-2000, Domestic Workers
association,Bangladesh had organized a procession of the domestic workers
with black flag and mask.The procession was silent .
 The procession was started at 4.30 p.m. from the Muktangan(central place
of the dhaka city)on 8th March,2000.The procession parred the diffirent
streets of the city and was finished at purana paltan.
 Before the procession ,there was a short gathering.It was addressed among
others the Amirul Haque Amin-central co-ordinator,Mrs Hasna Banu-member
secretary,Shahida Sarker,Mrs Aklima Begum,Mrs Nahar,Mrs Arifa, Mrs Ranu
Begum,Mrs Kulsum Ara,Mrs Hasina.
 The speakers addressed that-"The international women,s day is a simbol of
the recognition of the Women workers of the world and also their legal
rights.But when we are observing this victorious day, On that time every
day domestic workers are faching torture, burnt, smuggle, kidnaping,
forceful prostitution etc.There is another big and major problem of the
domestic workers of bangladesh is their recognition as workers.Till now the
domestics are not recognized as workers and they are deprived from their
legal rights."
 the speakers added that-"The domestics are also working as other workers
and receiving the lowest wages against their works.So why they are not
recognized as workers and deprived from legal rights ?"
