english translation from spanish original

dear friends, the resistance is going on !!!

I hope you received the information I have been sending you about the
resistance of the university students movement of the UNAM here in these
mexican lands which are also your lands and if you ever feel like coming, be
welcome like when a brother at home.

I wanted to comment that we were a bit worried about the absence of
communication which is probably due to the amount of work we have in this
struggle against global capital. We see communication and meeting between
us as necessary, if capital works 365 days per year than we have to work
double as much. (...)

I sent you information about the work we have been doing after that
enormous experience which was the intercontinental caravan for solidarity
and resistance in 1999. We havenít stopped opening more space for dialogue
and contact with other spaces in other continents, we want to know more
about how you are doing, we want to continue working with you, we want to
go on strengthening our networks of communication and of course we want
and we are building up action.

Nationaly speaking, we have started making a long list of organisations,
collectives, committees and individuals resisting neoliberalism and fighting
for humanity. We are building it and this work represents a bridge between
Mexican brothers and sisters and you, we hope itíll work out.

We wanted to inform you, that a collective has been set up which included
students, zapatist coordinators, committees supporting the zapatists
struggle and much more. This collective is called Civil Disobedience and
agreed the following:

1.- to participate in the PGA Latin American meeting. Either by sending in a
document or by participating directly.
2.- to go on keeping the contact with you and with other spaces of the
coordination of struggle against the globalisation of capital
3.- to distribute the PGA Bulletin in Mexico with the organisations we have
contact with.
4.- we have the hope and confidence that more people sympathising with
PGA in Latin America will come and visit us to dialogue.

We have been receiving some proposals and ideas, like the one about the
action fighting the summit of the IMF and the World Bank. OF course we are
enthusiastic and support it. We hope to receive more information about it.

Unfortunately we have not received feedback from the information we have
been sending you out and we know that you will soon send us, so we will
keep going.

We also would like to tell you that the university movement of the UNAM has
not stopped and continues the struggle in ist schools against the
privatisation of education as ordered by the IMF and the world bank. The
struggle continues also for the imprisoned students. There are still large
mobilisations happening and the imprisoned students are still subject to
violations of their human rights and individual guarantees. Some have been
fined up to $50.000 and 100.000 pesos which they obviously canít pay and
will definitely not pay as a condition to leave the movement. They know and
say that the struggle canít be bought nor sold. Funds for these people are
still being collected, to go on mobilising. The parents of these families are
desperate, but their children from prison tell them they should understand
them, they shouldnít resign and should go on fighting.
In the schools, the striking students are being harassed . The university trial
has been reactivated and the members of the movement are being
sanctioned. The students are being intimidated, but despite this they go on
struggling and wonít give up.

In order to raise funds, they organise concerts, sell food, t-shirts, general
merchandising etc for the release of the students that are in prison since the
6th of february, which was the date the repression machine of the State
assaulted the university.

Hope the people that do not read spanish will forgive me and the people who
can translate will do so in french, italian, german, english, japanese and
forward this message to other addresses.
