X. and I are back from Moscow. On Saturday we went to an anti-war demo
organized by anarchists. There were about 100 people, including human
rights organizations and Buddists. It was fucking cold and not that many
people on the street. But it went quite well. I had a bright idea, but
luckily it was cold and anarchists were lazy. I thought it would be a good
idea to visit the Polish embassy after the demo to demand that they don't
apologize for the do-called "Poznan incident".
[where anarchist made a demo in Russian embacy against
the war in Chechnia I.S.] (More about that later.) At
exactly the time we would have gone (if our toes weren't so frozen), more
than 200 people in military gear attacked the Polish embassy. (So we
probably would have been killed. I guess they were mostly fascists,
National Bolsheviks and the like. The night before, the National Bolsheviks
attacked the embassy but we didn't know about it until later.) All of the
newspapers in Russia and Poland are writing about this scandal so maybe the
Poznan anarchists have spoiled Russian-Polish relations. Russia has
recalled their consul from Warsaw and the Duma is making all sorts of
resolutions. I will send more info about this later.

X just talked with Poznan. They say that this story has been all over
the world, that there were phone calls from all over the world in support
of this action. Also, all over Poznan there was graffiti which reads
"better to be a hooligan than a mass murderer", in reference to this
incident. The Poznan anarchists had a press conference and we'll print
their statement and another Polish-Russian joint statement later today.

Also, we had very bad news in Moscow about the continued repression of
anarchists by the FSB. In addition to calling people in for interrogations,
we know that Olga Nevskaya will be charged with terrorism, possession of
weapons and preparing explosive devices. We heard that Kochkarev was being
beaten and tortured and that they are trying to make him give evidence
against others. Gennady Nepshikuyev has been transferred to Moscow where he
will also testify against people. The newspapers were writing about this
case in such a way that makes Olga out to be guilty before her trial. So
it's pretty much crap. We'll get more info soon.
