Two letters from illegally arrested students
(Translated by Shannon Young)

First letter:

To our parents:
During the most recent events presented to us today, we, your children
declare that all of the charges they bring against us are false; do not fall
into this dirty and tragic game which the authorities have set up. Fathers,
mothers, the only crime committed by your children is to have defended the
right of many to a better education. In these moments we need all of your
support in order to come out victorious. Every one of us has accepted the
responsibility that this movement could offer us and we assume it in the
same way that we hope that you accept this great challenge that only love
and family unity can move forward.
Do not be depressed or sad; to the contrary, look with pride upon that
which your children have achieved: the creation of the conscience within all
people that are sick and tired of the mistreatment and humiliation that the
bad government has given us for years. For that which concerns us, don't
forget that we love you, that you are here with us now and forever, with all
the respect, affection and your love.
                                -Your unjustly imprisoned children

Mother, father, listen: your child is still fighting!
Mother, father, listen: your child is still fighting!

Second letter:

To our companeros in the CGH:
Companeros, comrades, and friends: After the brutal crime committed in
our beloved university at the hands of the State police, we thought that all
was lost; the treatment received by the government ended up leaving us with
all the morale. Had it not been for a large group of parents and friends
from the battle who met us when we arrived, each one chanting "You are not
alone", the world could have ended here. With pride, today we found out that
you continue to fight, that you don't give up, that you don't let the
criminal campaign that has started to be waged against us by the mass media
win. We can not be with you, but that means nothing if you don't keep
fighting; We lost a battle, but the war isn't over. Them, the ones with the
power, think that they have broken us; but it is not so certain. No, as long
as there is an activist on the outside, who continues pushing, who continues
fighting; because although they think they are done with us, that they have
finished us off, they will always have the lingering doubt that somewhere
out there is someone who remains free, who will return to start everything.
Today, we have fallen, but our spirit lives on, being nurtured at your side.
We are counting on you since destiny has separated us. Do not surrender. Do
not be intimidated, because the struggle isn't over.
                                   -Your companeros imprisoned by State
